Enviromental Group |

| Environment
Group (M.E.G.) was formed in 1994, under the Parish Council
"umbrella". It consists of approx. 12 volunteers who
care for the parish's 24 footpaths, bridleways and unmetalled
roads. The Parish Council benefits from the Parish Paths
Partnership Scheme, whereby an annual grant from Devon County
Council is used towards major footpath work, e.g. materials and
contractors, when required. |
| The volunteers meet on
Wednesday mornings and carry out 2-3 hours work, mainly with
loppers, shears and secateurs, sometimes strimming and mowing are
also necessary, the volunteers having attended relevant
courses. |

|
We have also carried out
drainage work and assisted in the construction of stiles and
kissing gates. A survey is carried out each year to identify
necessary work, and details submitted to Devon County
Council. |
Members
produced a comprehensive footpath guide, the "Marldon Apple
Pie Walks Leaflet", and, for the Millennium, a beautiful
Parish map and booklet, in conjunction with local artists, a
pictorial record of all that is so special about Marldon. These
products can be purchased at Marldon Post Office. The walks
leaflet is also available at Cox's Garage and at Bungalow
Stores. We are always happy to welcome new members, free
